Most people remember a time when they smoked or ate a little too much and were left to deal with the repercussions. Cannabis highs have been known to creep up on people, often catching them by surprise with a delayed spark of intensity. Due to the natural reaction of being passed a bowl, sometimes hanging with people with larger tolerances can pressure you into smoking more than you normally would. Aside from smoking, edibles can be a completely different world from vaporization or combustion since you’re consuming all of the cannabis at once instead of smoking a few bowls over a certain amount of time. Whether the goal is to avoid reaching the red line or finding out how to recover once you’ve crossed it, here are five tips for dealing with getting too high:

1. Slow And Steady Wins The Race

Consuming cannabis is not a race, be sure to take your time in between bowls or dabs to prevent becoming uncomfortable. Since a high can roll in very slow and then hit you like a train, it’s important to space out your hits to allow the effects to roll in. Most mistakes that leave people too high or anxious are caused by rushed smoke sessions which pack a lot of THC into a short period of time. A good rule of thumb is to always wait until you start feeling something before you start taking on more cannabinoids.

2. There’s A Time and Place For Being Adventurous

If you’re not used to concentrates, edibles, or smoking more than one bowl, it might not be the best idea to do so where you’re on the move. Although it can be fun to push the envelopes of your tolerance in the company of close friends, feeling socially inept due to your consumption is never fun. Remember where you are and set limits so that you can avoid falling asleep or having an anxiety attack in someone else’s place.

3. Know Your Limits

To many people, edibles are an ideal way to consume cannabis without the attached smell and taste, however it often takes anywhere from 90 to 120 minutes for the full effect to settle in. Some medical patients are unable to receive relief through combustion or vaporization because of their health, and therefore, cannabis infused food provides the medical benefits in a more user-friendly fashion. Despite its ease and convenience, oral consumption is essentially signing up to consume however many milligrams of THC is found inside. With that in mind, if you’re not aware of the correlation between your tolerance and how much active cannabinoids are present, it’s best to start with half and eat the rest later if needed.

4. Know When To Stop

When smoking with other people, it’s important to understand that not everyone has the same tolerance. Just because one person can smoke an eighth to themselves doesn’t mean that the next person can hold their own under similar circumstances. After stomaching an edible, be cautious to smoking before you feel the initial effects. Stacking more on top too soon is a sure way to get your head soaring all of a sudden.

5. Use CannaRelief

Not all medical marijuana patients are seeking the couch lock effects that come with excess use while seeking relief. Getting too high can become a serious issue in certain situations, but thankfully there’s a way to cope and rebound. CannaRelief is a specially formulated drink supplement from CannaSafety that’s made of vitamins, herbs, amino acids, and 20 milligrams of pure CO2 extracted CBD derived from hemp stalk and seed that has been scientifically shown to relieve the negative effects of consuming too much cannabis. THC anxiety is much easier to manage with the use of this beverage, coming in handy when things get a little too intense after consuming cannabis. Some users of CannaRelief find that a fraction of a bottle gets the job done, so it’s important to experiment to find the ideal dose for you and your situation.
