Weed and Weight Loss: Most people don’t associate marijuana with weight loss. The weight stigma surrounding cannabis comes from the old adage that smoking weed hinders fitness goals due to the onslaught of insatiable munchies, coupled with lengthy movie marathons and food-induced afternoon naps.
But, contrary to this traditional mindset, a report from The American Journal of Medicine suggests that smoking pot could be linked to better metabolic health. During the study, participants who smoked cannabis on a regular basis displayed lower insulin levels and waist circumference when compared to non-smokers.
“Current marijuana users had significantly smaller waist circumference than participants who had never used marijuana, even after adjusting for factors like age, sex, tobacco and alcohol use, and physical activity levels. They also had higher levels of HDL (good cholesterol),” explained the researchers.

The book is an in-depth record of his journey, which is filled with self-formulated tips, guidelines, and regimens.
The diet encourages individuals to eat in moderation, avoid processed foods and white sugar, drink plenty of water, and eat leafy vegetables. Exercise is also on the agenda to streamline the weight loss process. Strangely, the book failed to cover tasty cannabutter recipes and healthy edibles. So where does marijuana fit into all this?
According to Glass, cannabis can help keep your focus in check, as you strive for consistency during the ordeal. To prevent munchies from ruining your diet, the author recommends no more than three hits when toking. It might also be worth laying off the bong, and relying on a classic one-hitter to keep the puffs at a minimum.
High Levels of THCV Can Prevent the Munchies
Those who are serious about incorporating marijuana into their diet goals may want to look into specific cannabis strains, such as Super Silver Haze and G13, with generous levels of THCV. “This cannabinoid is actually an antagonist of the CB1 and CB2 receptors, which means it blocks THC, keeping you from getting high and from getting the munchies.
