How to Decarb Cannabis: What is Decarboxylation? Decarboxylation is the process of adding heat to cannabis to convert the non-psychoactive THCA into psychoactive THC. In other words, without decarboxylation, you won’t get high.
Every time you light a joint or bowl, you are decarbing your weed. To get high from ingesting cannabis, however, the decarbing process is a bit more complicated that using a lighter.
Step 1: Get supplies
For our tutorial, we used a half ounce of cannabis but any amount of cannabis can be decarboxylated. Just be sure to adjust heating time accordingly.
Step 2: Grind your weed and spread it on the pan
For the best results, your weed should be very thoroughly ground up and spread very thin.
Step 3: Bake the weed
Warning: This step will smell up your house
Put the pan full of weed in the oven for 40 minutes at 240°F. Remember, this time and temperature is ideal for a half ounce. If you are using more or less cannabis, adjust the time accordingly and keep a close eye on it.
Step 4: Let it cool and make some edibles!
When the time is up, take it out of the oven and let it cool. Ideally, the decarboxylated bud should have a golden brown hue to it. If it does, you did the process correctly!
Now your weed is ready for consumption. Get creative with it and make some cool edibles! And stay tuned for more edible tips and recipes.
