(ANCHORAGE, AK) — Authorities in Anchorage have served multiple search warrants at marijuana activist Charlo Greene’s business; Alaska Cannabis Club.
Police spokeswoman Jennifer Castro said officers received multiple reports of illegal marijuana distribution going on at the club.
Local news outlet KTUU is reporting authorities seized all marijuana found on site and 2 vehicles – a Dodge Dakota truck and Jeep Libery SUV on Friday, March 20.
You might remember Charlo Greene from her famous resignation as a TV reporter, speaking the now famous line, “fuck it I quit” during a live broadcast.
While recreational cannabis consumption is now legal in Alaska, retail dispensaries are not expected until at least October.
Greene, whose legal name is Charlene Egbe, told another local media outlet KTVA,
“This is basically a medical marijuana dispensary. We don’t sell any recreational marijuana, we don’t sell any medical marijuana. This is a place for card holders to come and share their own cannabis.”
Through the Alaska Cannabis Club Facebook page, more details about the raid were shared. According to that Facebook post, nine mature cannabis plants and about twelve seedlings were destroyed by authorities. Cellphones, computers and two vehicles were confiscated, no one was arrested nor issued a ticket or citation.
The Alaska Cannabis Club was back open for business the day after the raid, and it is unclear at this time if any further action will be taken.
