Marijuana continues to make it’s way out of the shadows and into the main stream. Yesterday, Mod Sun released a marijuana centric tune featuring Travis Barker titled ‘Never Quit’. The song is pretty simple as Mod Sun happily raps throughout the song, “I’ll never quit, never quit smoking,” referring to marijuana. While I appreciate his commitment, the song tends to become a bit chanty after a while.
Personal thoughts on the song aside, it’s nice to see storied, successful music figures like Travis Barker openly associating himself with marijuana. While the Snoop’s and Willie Nelson’s of the entertainment world will always carry the cannabis friendly torch in Hollywood, it’s important to have other respected entertainers join the party.

Back in September, rapper Waka Flocka reached out to his Instagram following to recruit a full-time, 50k a year personal blunt roller. Now it seems the Atlanta rapper’s smoking habits have landed him a new gig of his own as the spokesman for Pine Brothers Throat Drops. His recent commercial aired during the 2014 American Music Awards and portrays Waka in smoke-filled room claiming, “Can’t live without my Pine Brothers, straight up.”
This brilliant advertisement has put the Pine Brothers brand on a national platform, with mentions in Time, Adweek, MTV, Mashable, Gawker, and hundreds more. It looks like stoners may be flocking to the Pine Brothers brand.
Supporting any controversial subject for a celebrity or public figure can be really sticky sometimes. To publicly state your stance for or against is something most are not willing to do, but is crucial for any movement to gain steam and legitimacy. As marijuana has become essentially mainstream, more and more people in positions of influence are speaking out against on the war on drugs, specifically the war on marijuana.
Tom Angell, a life long cannabis advocate and founder of Marijuana Majority has done an amazing job curating pro-legalization quotes from across the web into one easy place. Some of the supporters listed are pretty obvious (Wiz Khalifa, Snoop, etc), but there are several we were not aware of, below are our favorites.

It seems some Hollywood medical marijuana patients may be a little out of date when it comes to current events in politics. Recently the Jimmy Kimmel Show went to a dispensary in Hollywood to question passerby MMJ patients on current events. With all fairness to the people questioned, the video is meant to make ‘stoners look like stoners’ and they were asked questions that I bet more than 1/2 the non-smoking population couldn’t answer either.
Kimmel started out the segment by prefacing that businesses in the marijuana industry are starting to actively lobby in the political process. This a huge step in recognition from a prime time, mainstream television show, with even bigger reach on Youtube. Although most of the coverage value is hidden behind a stereotypical portrayal of marijuana users, it’s crucial to gain this type of wide reaching media coverage for the industry to continue to move forward.
