Colonel David Chase of the U.S. Army has sent a letter out to multiple Washington dispensaries warning them not to sell marijuana to service members.
A series of tweets from popular cannabis lawyer, Hilary Bricken, broke the story.
This is a new one. Department of the Army is now issuing letters to my #marijuana clients telling them to not sell to the troops…OR ELSE.
Bricken followed up with a photo copy of the letter. The letter is extremely vague and seems like more of a threat than anything else. There are no references to I502 Washington’s recreational marijuana bill or exactly what defines a service member. Nearly every dispensary in Colorado has some sort of veteran’s discount, and the state is funding studies for cannabis use and PTSD. It is quite shocking to see Washington go the other way.
