Party band and notable mashup collaborators Lance Herbstrong (Kamal Soliman, Peter DiStefano and Bill Sarver) have teamed up with Grammy award winning hip-hop lyricist Big Daddy Kane for their first original song “Ripped.” Written for the new stoner film by the same name, Ripped stars comedians Russell Peters (Last Comic Standing, The Jungle Book, Chef) and Faizon Love (Grow House, Black-ish, Friday, Elf).
When best friends Harris (Russell Peters) and Reeves (Faizon Love) smoke top secret CIA weed in 1986, they wake up thirty years later and decide to become a part of the green rush by opening a cannabis business. Between advances in technology and legalized weed, it takes the hilarious duo a moment to get acclimated in the 21st century. The film’s (ahem) climax is marked by Lance Herbstrong’s live performance of “Ripped” to a room of dancing party people.
Lance Herbstrong is widely regarded for throwing backstage parties and performing music industry ‘insider’ events. Band members Kamal Soliman and Peter DiStefano have impressive resumes in the music industry which eventually led them to form the band. DiStefano played guitar in Pornos for Pyros with Perry Farrell and has been featured on albums with Stone Temple Pilots’ Scott Weiland, as well as in numerous movie scores through collaborations with notable composer Harry Gregson-Williams (Man on Fire, Shrek 2, Total Recall). Soliman was head of artist relations at concert promotion/event production firm C3 Presents for nine years and helped recreate Lollapalooza. He produced all the C3 festivals and Obama’s inaugurals while there and is currently managing the world tour for reggae luminary and canna-preneur Damian Marley.

Along with producer/engineer Bill Sarver, the three Lance Herbstrong pioneers regularly invite special guests to join them on stage. From Thievery Corporation, Massive Attack, Perry Farrell, Karl Denson to world champion cyclist Lance Armstrong himself, the band’s long list of collaborations, remixes, and mashups receiving hundreds of thousands, even millions of plays, is as impressive as their hot new single “Ripped” featuring Big Daddy Kane, one of hip-hop’s most legendary vocal stars.
More tour dates will be announced soon on their website, for now you can catch Lance Herbstrong on
September 9th in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Ripped is in-theaters in select cities across the US and on iTunes and VOD now.
