With a warrant from a Colorado law enforcement agency, a man was arrested in San Angelo, Texas after a United Parcel Service employee reported a suspicious package to authorities. Johnny Wolfe, the 23 year old Texas man, has been under investigation in Colorado for more than a month, and is now in custody in Texas.
Wolfe allegedly mailed himself nine pounds of legal Colorado cannabis. Addressing the package to and from himself in Texas, he shipped it from a UPS store in Pueblo, Colorado.
Authorities reported that the package contained an estimated total of $63,000 worth of products. This total was divided between $58,000 worth of dried cannabis flowers, and $5,000 worth of edibles, wax, cough syrup and dermal patches. The 9 pounds of cannabis flowers were double-vacuum sealed.
Although Wolfe legally purchased all items at a recreational dispensary in Pueblo, it is illegal to carry all forms of Colorado cannabis across state lines. Wolfe is being held at the Tom Green County Jail on $100,000 cash only bond. He faces charges in Colorado for possession with intent to distribute. This is considered a class two felony which is punishable by 8 to 24 years in prison and a fine of up to $1,000,000.
