A wise man born decades ahead of his time once said,

“Herb is the unification of mankind. When you smoke the herb, it reveals you to yourself. Herb is the healing of a nation, alcohol is the destruction.”

That pioneer of the marijuana legalization movement was the one and only Bob Marley. Although the legendary, Rasta-prophet of peace, love and cannabis may not be alive to witness his dream slowing coming true around the world, with a little help from friends at Privateer Holdings and family, Bob Marley’s advocacy lives on.

In the very near future, Bob Marley will be selling cannabis strains with Jamaican roots in all forms flower and concentrate, as well as accessories and infused topical creams from beyond the grave, under the new global-brand, Marley Natural.

Chief Executive Officer, Brendan Kennedy, of Privateer Holdings, the firm responsible for the first ever global cannabis brand told NBC, “This is what the end of prohibition looks like. Bob Marley started to push for legalization more than 50 years ago. We’re going to help him finish it.”

When asked, Rita, the wife of the deceased dreadlocked Rasta defended her decision to use the name of a man who sang out against the evils of a capitalistic society to sell a global brand,

“You can depend on Bob, too. He’s 100 percent behind what is happening. He’s happy because this is what we dreamed of. It was unruly for us to call it weed or drugs. We saw it as a spiritual thing, given to us by God.”

Bob’s eldest daughter, Cedella Marley, explained her support in using her family name for this brand,

“It just seems natural that Daddy should be part of this conversation. As Daddy would say, ‘make way for the positive day.’”

Although brand sales are not anticipated to begin an sooner than the later part of 2015, Privateer Holdings is gearing up for the launch of what they are describing as the “Ben & Jerry’s of cannabis.” Brendan Kennedy elaborated the brand description further to NBC, “We’re committed to ending the social harms caused by prohibition. We’re committed to social change, environmental sustainability and building a professional, responsible and legal cannabis industry.”
