Looking for a fresh, laid back event where you can immerse your soul in great music, transcending art and blissful vibes? Look no further because the 8th Annual California Roots Music and Arts Festival is just around the corner!

The three-day festival will be held at the Monterey County Fair & Event Center (Monterey, CA) between May 26-28. Mark your calendars and get your festival gear ready – this year’s California Roots gathering is going to be huge.

Lineup and Festival Information

The musical lineup for the eighth installation of the Cali Roots Festival includes the following (to see all of the bands playing at the event, head over to the California Roots Festival website):

· Nas
· Rebelution
· Dirty Heads
· Jurassic 5
· Matisyahu
· Thievery Corporation
· Protoje
· …and more!

“This past year has seen tremendous growth in our roots music scene, and we are proud that 2017’s lineup includes recent GRAMMY nominees Rebelution and SOJA,” said festival co-producer Dan Sheehan.

Let the music inspire and move you, as you check out colorful art galleries, interactive murals and live painting sets. There will also be a diverse selection of food and drink options setup to keep you chugging along through the entire event. Food vendors cater to a range of dietary preferences, including vegan and gluten-free! Sierra Nevada Brewing beer and wine booths can also be found around the location.

Got kids? Don’t worry about booking a babysitter for the three-day festival. Kids are welcome at the fairgrounds and the venue is stroller and wagon-friendly. Get your children in on the action with face painting and art activities. Kids below the age of 10 are free, when accompanied with a paid adult.

Off-site camping is permitted via Laguna Seca. Cali Roots offers transportation from the camping venue to the event and vice versa.

Going Beyond Music and Arts

Every year, the California Roots Festival gets bigger and better. The “movement” has grown to provide a complete festival experience that goes beyond listening to live music and cheering crowds (though those elements are a big part of it). In the festival’s transformation, it is a place for people to socialize freely, connect with their surroundings and explore unique cultures through music, art and food.

“What started as a backyard party is now one of the fastest growing festivals of its size,” said Sheehan.

The California Roots Festival is a zero-waste event. Vendors selling water are replaced with free water refill stations located around the fairgrounds. Festivalgoers are encouraged to bring their own water container to the event. Zero-waste stations in the form of recycling, composting and trash segregation will be available at eating areas. There will also be a free bicycle and skateboard valet service for individuals cruising around on gasoline-free transportation.
