Americans for Safe Access has launched a national advertisement campaign that calls out to pro-marijuana political candidates. The ad encourages those running for office, who support ending marijuana prohibition, to fill out a political candidate survey at VoteMedicalMarijuana.org.
The advertisement calls out to candidates stating,
“Voters will remember candidates who represent them, so don’t leave voters on hold. Tell us where you stand.”
The idea behind this being that voters who want to see the end of marijuana prohibition, be it for medical or recreational use, can easily access information on where each candidate stands on the issues. Then voters are able to use how the candidate answered the survey questions to decide who to support. This will be a useful tool for voters before the election next month.
Candidates can very easily access the survey. There is one survey for congressional candidates, and a separate survey for state level candidates. The congressional candidate survey questions are quite different than the state level candidate survey, but both get the point across. Once a candidate completes the survey, they are scored based on the answers given, and then voters are able to access the information through the site.
The site is user friendly for voters as well. Voters can then select the state they live in to see a list of which candidates have taken the survey, and how the questions were answered.
