On Sunday, federal agents made a unique discovery during a routine sweep of a DHL Express cargo facility located in Northern Kentucky. A large statue of Jesus was discovered to be packed full with 26 pounds of cannabis. The package originated in Mexico, and was destined for San Juan, Puerto Rico. While the packaging efforts were pretty innovative, it’s never a good idea to mail cannabis.
Officials identified the marijuana after an X-ray scan confirmed the narcotics dog suspicions. The value of the seized product was estimated at $20,000 or approximately $770 a pound.
“This unique seizure demonstrates the extraordinary methods individuals will utilize in their attempt to smuggle narcotics,” said Cincinnati Port Director Richard L. Gillespie, in a release.
