A medical marijuana dispensary in Denver was robbed at gunpoint Sunday afternoon. Just before 2 pm, armed men stormed into the RiNo Supply Co. on Blake St.
The men stole several products before firing two gunshots and fleeing the business. Fortunately, no one was injured. The dispensary typically has a guard who verifies credentials prior to allowing entry, but it is unknown whether any security personnel were present during the robbery.
Denver Police stated that they are currently looking for four male suspects, who they believe fled the scene of the crime in a Mercedes and a Volkswagen van.
RiNo Supply Co. is offering a $10,000 reward for any information that leads to the arrest of the individuals involved.
The armed robbery is yet another example of the potential danger caused by the lack of banking services for cannabis business, and resulting large amounts of cash and product that dispensaries possess. Even less supportive politicians, like Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper, have urged federal lawmakers to provide a legislative solution to the issue.
