Boston, Massachusetts is celebrating the opening of their first medical cannabis dispensary today! Patriot Care will be the seventh dispensary to open in the state, but the first to come to Boston.

Over 200 patients have been pre-registered with the new business, which is ready to serve 150 patients per day.

Patriot Care’s CEO Robert Mayerson highlighted the uplifting effect the dispensary will have on the surrounding community by renting a space which has been vacant for over 10 years.

Massachusetts has been slow to get their medical cannabis program up and running. Legal cannabis cultivation started on December 31, 2014. The state had their first dispensary open on June 24, 2015.

The state will have the opportunity to vote on recreational cannabis this coming November. The legalization measure has Boston’s elected officials at odds, but Massachusetts voters will have the final say.
