As I entered Mindful on Colfax for the first time, I was quickly greeted, my ID was checked, and I was guided to sit in the cozy waiting area until the only budtender working at the time was available.
Luckily for me, Jared, a new yet knowledgeable member of the Mindful team is a fellow indica-enthusiast, so he was quickly able to recommend some of his favorite strains. After only minutes of discussion, I settled on Hell’s Angel OG.
Hell’s Angel OG
Mindful, 5926 E Colfax Ave, Denver 80220
Being one of the driest states in the US, most cannabis found in Colorado is on the dryer side. While that is true with this sample of Hell’s Angel OG, the flowers are dense and break up into a much larger quantity than expected from the size of each nug. The calyxes are well developed. As you can see from the image below, the trichome coverage in dense, the pistils are on the shorter side and burnt-orange or amber in color.
These Hell’s Angel OG flowers have a complex terpene profile. Without breaking it open, the first aroma to hit the nose is largely earthy, herbal and spicy with a slight hint of pine. Once broken apart, however, a floral scent of sweetness and fruit becomes more apparent. Because of the aroma of Hell’s Angel OG, I would have to assume that this sample contains a decent amount of myrcene, linalool, and beta-caryophyllene.
Deciding to use my hands instead of a cannabis grinder to pack my glass pipe with Hell’s Angel OG left my fingers covered in resinous kief. One of the smoothest hitting strains I’ve ever consumed, I felt no irritation in my throat and I barely noticed I was exhaling smoke. I felt no irritation in my throat nor did I cough. The smoke tasted subtly spicy like black pepper.
The same strain of cannabis can produce completely different effects in different people. In my experience, indica strains that are known to leave one couch-locked leave me feeling just right. A slight smirk moved across my face and my eyes squinted almost immediately after the second hit of Hell’s Angel OG. Initially a little giggly and even talkative, the effects settled into mild cerebral relaxation, reduced muscle tension and an overall sense of calm.
