When it comes to stretching the almighty dollar, most cannabis enthusiasts have probably found themselves having to make a decision between paying the bills or purchasing some greens. More often than not, the bills win- but the good news is you don’t have to forsake one for the other ever again.
Whether your pockets are running on empty or you just can’t seem to find any herbal remedies on your own, I’ve got some good news for cannabis consumers in a pinch- you can get high for free, and here’s a list of the top five ways to do it:
Enjoy 420-friendly concerts
Free concerts in the park, Slightly Stoopid shows at your favorite venue and local shows where people are likely to have a good time are all great opportunities to get out and share the air with other friendly pot smokers.
Unless it’s the Mormon Tabernacle Choir singing on Christmas Eve, odds are in your favor that there are going to be plenty of 420-friendly attendees willing to share their greens with you. Just remember to pay it forward when you’re the one holding the flowers in the future.
Hit the slopes
Here in Colorado, we take our outdoor activities very seriously. Skiing or snowboarding on a 12” powder day can only be topped by one thing: shredding powder while stoned and jamming to Bob Marley.
First, going solo or with one other friend will increase your chances of scoring a few puffs from a friendly neighbor, so consider breaking off into the singles line. Then, keep your eyes and nostrils open for the tell-tale clues of the on-mountain smokers: skunky scent, loud stony chuckles, and the use of ‘dude’ every other sentence. If you can pair up with these guys in the lift line, you can almost guarantee that your ‘ganjola’ ride up to the top will be exactly what the doctor ordered.
Attend pro-marijuana rallies and events
This is one of the truly free ways to score weed. With current legislative efforts and hot-button topics like the legalization of recreational cannabis, there are pro-cannabis movements and gatherings all over the world at nearly any given point in time.
Marijuana advocates actually handed out over 8,000 free joints to people on inauguration day in protest of Jeff Sessions’ nomination for attorney general, so go show your support for a worthy cause and get your smoke on while you’re at it!
Become a cannabis product reviewer
Did you know that there are people out there that get paid to review marijuana strains? I should know, I’m one of them! Although the barrier to entry can be steep, if you have excellent grammar and writing skills, put those skills to use and start building a portfolio of your own strain reviews to start showcasing.
With a lot of persistence and a bit of luck, you too could test out the best new cannabis products for free and even get paid for your reviews!
Grow your own
When all else fails, grow your own. If you have some seeds laying around begging to be planted (and you’ve got the space), outdoor growing is inexpensive and can be well worth the effort. Just be sure to brush up on the legality of outdoor growing in your area before going all Johnny Appleseed on your backyard.
