Nearly five thousand North Texans gathered at a rally on Saturday in support of medical and recreational marijuana. The main objective was to assist in bringing awareness to the current reform efforts in the Lone Star State and further the discussion amongst the cannabis community in the state.

The rally was organized by the Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter of NORML, lead by Shaun McAlister. McAlister is a staunch supporter of the legalization movement, receiving a High Time Freedom Fighter award in 2012 and serving as DFW NORML’s Director. Texas has been active on the marijuana reform front in the month with Houston pushing towards decriminalizing possession of small amounts of marijuana and Dallas to follow in January.
