1. A Majority of Americans Support Marijuana Legalization
In the last forty-five years marijuana support has grown tremendously from only 12% to today’s 52% majority, and it sure doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.
2. Millennials Are Leading The Charge
Although majority support for marijuana legalization already exists in the Boomers, Gen Xs, and Millennials, those born in the later years show significantly stronger numbers of support. This is great news for cannabis, because as millennials get older they will undoubtedly have more power, money, influence, and ability to effect real change.
3. Americans Think Alcohol is More Harmful Than Marijuana
According to Pew Research Center,
“About seven-in-ten (69%) Americans believe alcohol is more harmful to a person’s health than marijuana while 15% pick marijuana as worse (14% say both or neither). If marijuana became as widely available as alcohol, 63% still believe alcohol would be more harmful to society.”
4. We’ve Only Just Begun!
In the last two years, marijuana has seen incredible advancements with recreational legalization in Colorado and Washington, as well as some from of decriminalization in twenty-four states and Washington D.C. Although this advancement is impressive, and shows no sign of stopping anytime soon, the overall push for federal legalization has really only just begun.
